The Sixth Annual Art Walk is Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 10 am - 4 pm (inclement weather date is Sunday 9/15), hosted by the Stonington Borough Merchants Association and sponsored by the Stonington Village Improvement Association. This one-day fair features the best of the region’s art scene, acoustic musical performances, Borough shops, cultural assets, restaurants, and food vendors. The event is free to the public and attracts visitors from across New England and beyond. Three blocks of Water Street, between High Street and Church Streets, are closed for tents. Select merchants host artists between Church Street and Cannon Square.

DETAILS

Each artist pays a non-refundable fee of $140. ONE REGISTRATION PER ARTIST. No commissions are taken on sales. Upon receipt of your registration and fee, artists will be reviewed and assigned to a location. You may request a location but it IS NOT guaranteed. Set up must be complete by 10:00 am. Break down begins at 4 pm sharp. We communicate via email so please provide reliable contact information.

*TENTS + TABLES

Artists may set up a tent no larger than 10’ x 10’. Tents will be set up side-by-side with the option of opening the front and back. All tents MUST be weighted. Ten artists without tents have the option to pair with a merchant and set up a table on the sidewalk against the building OUTSIDE OF THE TENTED AREA.

Tabled spots are ONLY available in front of merchants between Church Street and Cannon Square. There are also 3 tables available in the back garden of Cove Ledge. Artists must bring tents and tables (except Cove Ledge tabled artists). 

*INSIDE A SHOP

If you register to be INSIDE A SHOP, you MUST make arrangements with the shop owner BEFORE you register. Please do not register to be INSIDE A SHOP if you have not coordinated with a merchant — you will not be allowed to set up outside. You will not have a space if tent and table spots are sold out, and there are no refunds.

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT DETAILS

The registration deadline is August 1, 2024. Registration will close if spots sell out early. If registration closes and you would like to be put on the waitlist, please email us at stoningtonborough@gmail.com and include your phone number. Cancellations happen at the last minute and you may get lucky. 

Location, setup, and parking information will be emailed to you after registration closes and all details have been finalized.

Artists are responsible for collecting and remitting any sales tax and meeting any local license and permit requirements if applicable. Artists should comply with all local, state, and federal laws. If you are selling a taxable product, you must have the appropriate sales tax licenses and collect and remit sales tax on applicable products in Connecticut (6.35%). 

By registering for this event, you agree and accept that the Stonington Borough Merchants Association, Stonington Borough, the town of Stonington, sponsors, and the organizers of this event are not responsible for ensuring the safety of your property. We recommend that all artists purchase liability insurance to cover loss, damage, or injury.

We do an extensive marketing and media campaign to promote the Art Walk, registered artists, and our sponsors. Each registered artist gets featured on our website and shared on our social media channels. Artists are provided with graphics, videos, and messaging to help promote the event.
