Located across from Wadawanuck Square is Indulge Coffee & Sandwich Co., offering organic coffee, freshly-made sandwiches, and freshly-baked pastries, perfect if you want to picnic in the park or head to the beach.
MACONDo · 530 Stonington road
Located in a plaza off Route 1, Macondo is our go-to for rich, flavorful Colombian coffee. They also have smoothies and a great selection of tea, and if you’re hungry, New York bagels baked in-house, fresh, French-style pastries from Pain D’Avignon, and an assortment of scones and muffins.
MILAGRO CAFE · 142 WATER STREET
Milagro Café serves modern Mexican cuisine, the most delicious margaritas, and a large selection of sipping tequilas. Seating is available in the lively bar area, an upstairs dining room, or in the charming courtyard outside. They make their chips in-house (so good) and the enchiladas are a fan favorite.
NOAH’S RESTAURANt · 113 water street
For breakfast, lunch, or dinner, head to Noah’s Restaurant. There’s a reason it’s been open for 36 years — it’s casual with a great bar, and the food is ALWAYS good. There’s usually a special for the evening: Lobstahs, Buck-a-Shuck Oysters, Mac & Cheese; reservations are strongly suggested.
Zest Fresh PastrY · 22 BAYVIEW AVENUE (THE VELVET MILL)
Please tell us you’ve been to Zest Fresh Pastry at the Velvet Mill (also home to artists, home decor and furnishings outposts, wellness resources, galleries, and a weekly Farmers’ Market)! Zest, our favorite local bakery, delights crowds Wednesday through Sunday, with small batch-baked goods using local and in-season ingredients. They’re also known for their divine cakes, so if you have a special event or you just want to…eat cake…Zest is where you want to go to get it!
Saltwater Farm VineyarD · 349 ELM STREET
We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Saltwater Farm Vineyard — the ideal setting for your next celebration. With panoramic vistas, this vineyard is set on stunning coastal farmland, housing a WWII-era airport hangar that’s been transformed into a spectacular winery making award-winning wines. Every Sunday is Funday, with a music series during spring and summer. There’s also a Thursday Night Music Series that runs June through August, and other special events featuring various food trucks like The Rolling Tomato and J&R Seafood Market’s Raw Bar. Check their website for all the details.
