Stonington Borough Businesses Reopen!

Although Stonington Borough’s businesses are starting to reopen, we are following the state’s restrictions and guidelines carefully. We are thrilled to welcome people back, but for the health and safety of our small community, please keep in mind:

- Masks are required
- A 6-foot distance is recommended
- Hands must be sanitized upon entry
- In-store shoppers will be limited in number

We’ve compiled an updated list of our businesses and their current offerings. Restaurants are open for outside dining, and/or takeout. Merchants are communicating directly with customers via phone, email, and social media, and are offering many ways to shop, with curbside pickup or delivery:

- Online
- Through Facebook and/or Instagram
- Window shopping - contact merchants directly by phone, email, or text
- Appointment-only in-store shopping

As this is a developing story, please check with individual merchants for the most up-to-date information. You can also refer to our last post with addresses and phone numbers.

A selection of past concerts and talks have been posted to their YouTube channel, and they are presenting new speakers and interviews via Zoom. Upcoming events can be found at the top of their homepage. In the future, look for concerts, talks, and youth art workshops to be live-streamed, as well as virtual art exhibitions. On Facebook and Instagram, they are sharing links to some of their favorite artists, articles, and educational opportunities.

Stonington Historical Society
You can’t go inside any of the amazing sites managed by the Stonington Historical Society, but they still have a lot to offer. Of particular interest is a series of Oral Histories on a variety of local subjects they’ve produced which are available online.

The organization is encouraging the public to call or email with research questions as the Woolworth Library at 40 Palmer Street is closed to the public. They have a variety of history books for sale on their website.

The grounds of the Nathaniel Palmer House (40 Palmer St.) and the Old Lighthouse Museum (7 Water Street) are available for leisurely strolls. Sections of the Lighthouse property are blocked off due to the ongoing restoration work, but a pleasing view of the water is still accessible. Please leash your pets and pick up after them.
