Where Do I Park in Stonington Borough?

We’re hoping by summer, life as we know it will be back to “normal”. To plan for visitors, the merchants of Stonington Borough are treading carefully. They are taking precautions to ensure the health and safety of staff, customers, and their families. Many merchants offer hand sanitizer and require masks. All are following the CDC requirements and recommendations.

One of the most frequent questions we get is “Where do I park?” We admit, the Borough is small and parking is limited, but there are options sprinkled throughout our footprint.

On-street parking. There is ample on-street parking that is also used by residents. In the summer, on-street parking is at a premium and monitored, allowing for two free hours. Please watch for posted 15-minute parking signs — it is strictly monitored on Water Street.

Lots. Once you cross the viaduct, there are three main parking lots available for public use: at the Town Docks, Wayland’s Wharf, and Stonington Point. The Borough is easily accessible by foot, so parking is never “too far away”. There is also a parking lot at the soccer field and the Velvet Mill with a footbridge that conveniently connects to the Borough proper.

Please note: If you’re heading down Water Street toward Stonington Point, traffic becomes two-way between Cannon Square and the Point. Please watch for posted signage and yield to the right-of-way.

And don’t forget — spring, fall, and even winter are incredible times to visit Stonington Borough — without the summer crowds with little to no traffic!
